Iran’s output of agricultural machinery soars 10 percent in 7 months

(MENAFN) Iran’s production of agricultural machinery saw a 10 percent increase in the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 20 to October 21), compared to the same period last year. A senior official from the Ministry of Industry, Mining, and Trade attributed this growth to successful domestic production policies. Abouzar Jamshidvand, the Director-General of Agricultural, Mining, and Industrial Machinery, highlighted that the ministry’s focus on supporting domestic manufacturers had contributed to this positive outcome.

Jamshidvand noted that the production of key machinery such as tractors and combine harvesters had risen notably, leading to a corresponding 10 percent increase in exports of certain agricultural machines. The increase in domestic production of agricultural machinery is seen as an important step toward improving the country's agricultural sector.

Official data showed that tractor production grew from 19,000 units in the first seven months of the previous year to more than 21,000 units in the same period this year. Similarly, the production of combine harvesters increased by 10 percent, with 430 units manufactured compared to 395 units last year. This growth in production reflects the country’s ongoing efforts to enhance agricultural efficiency and mechanization.

Jamshidvand emphasized that providing timely financial support to farmers would further accelerate agricultural mechanization. He suggested that offering loans quickly would help farmers adopt modern machinery more efficiently, thus fostering further growth in the agricultural machinery sector.

Additionally, the Ministry's Export and Import Regulations Office issued a new directive allowing the import of certain used agricultural machinery. This includes equipment for harvesting cotton, sugar beet, potatoes, tomatoes, and corn, as well as heavy balers and tractors with over 120 horsepower. The new import regulations aim to support the mechanization of agriculture and enhance productivity across the country.
