Gaza Crisis Has Affected The Whole Region -- Qatar

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) DOHA, Dec 7 (KUNA) -- Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulrahman said on Saturday that he had warned "everyone" that current conditions in Gaza would spill over to the whole region.
The minister, addressing a dialogue panel held as part of Doha Forum, said the event was organized at a critical time for the region, "starting with the prevailing situation in Gaza and its expansion beyond the borders of the strip."
He hinted that events in Syria and Lebanon were some of the repercussions of the Gaza crisis, but indicated that there was no action whatsoever, during cessation of the battles in Syria, to address issues such as the displaced, the refugees or any bid to make national conciliation.
The Qatari prime minister warned that current conditions in Syria might develop into full scale civil war and called for addressing the issue to reach a sustainable settlement.
On Gaza, he indicated that Qatar "has recently opted to back" down in the negotiating process "because we did not sense actual will to reach an end to the events in the strip."
Sheikh Mohammad explained that Doha has recently decided to "resume the negotiations" after receiving encouragement from the US administration. (end)
