Syrian opposition forces report expanding their operations in Hama's central countryside

(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Syrian opposition forces reported expanding their operations in Hama's central countryside, capturing control of 12 towns, villages, and cities. This follows recent gains in Aleppo, where they took control of a military airport and a military school.

The opposition's "Deterrence" command room coordinated the capture of key areas such as Halfaya, Souran, Taiba Al-Imam in northern Hama, and Qalaat Al-Madiq in the western countryside, following fierce clashes with Syrian and Iran-backed forces. Violent confrontations broke out late Monday in areas like Al-Jabain, Tal Meleh, and Al-Jalameh, as regime forces tried to reclaim the towns lost to opposition groups, supported by heavy airstrikes from Syrian and Russian warplanes.

According to the opposition, over 50 Syrian soldiers were killed in these clashes, with five captured. In contrast, the Syrian state news agency, SANA, reported that regime forces had successfully repelled the "terrorist" assault, regaining control of several towns along the Mhardeh-Suqaylabiya road in Hama.

Opposition forces continue to engage in sporadic clashes along the "Maardas - Tayyiba al-Imam" axis, just 12 kilometers from Hama city, while also consolidating their position in the strategic town of Morek.

In Aleppo, the opposition announced it had fully captured the Neirab military airport and the northern Aleppo military school. This brings the total number of military airports under opposition control to four, alongside the previously seized Abu al-Duhur, Kuweyres, and Meng airports, as well as Aleppo International Airport. The opposition’s capture of Neirab is expected to improve security for Aleppo by reducing regime airstrike capabilities.

In eastern Syria, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) launched an offensive against Syrian army and Iran-backed militias in seven villages east of the Euphrates River in Deir Ezzor, escalating the region's ongoing conflict.
