Iran’s commodity exports to Iraq rise by 36 percent in 7 months
(MENAFN) Iran’s non-oil exports to Iraq have experienced significant growth, rising by 36 percent in the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20–October 21). According to Abdolamir Rabihaavi, director-general for West Asia at the Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) of Iran, these exports reached USD7.288 billion during this period. Additionally, unofficial figures suggest that exports in November added another USD1 billion, raising the total to approximately USD8.2 billion so far this year.
Rabihaavi projected that with the current momentum, Iran's exports to Iraq could reach an all-time high of USD11 billion by the end of the fiscal year. He highlighted Iraq’s status as a critical market for Iranian goods, particularly those with high added value, underscoring its importance in Iran’s regional trade strategy. The economic partnership between the two neighbors continues to strengthen, benefiting both sides.
Key products exported to Iraq during this period included construction materials, such as various steel profiles and ceramic tiles, along with food products, chemical and petrochemical goods, and plastic items. These categories demonstrate the broad spectrum of Iran's non-oil export portfolio and its capacity to meet diverse market demands in Iraq.
The substantial growth in trade reflects the deepening economic ties between Iran and Iraq, solidifying Iraq’s role as a major destination for Iranian exports. This robust trade relationship highlights ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral economic cooperation and leverage regional markets for mutual benefit.
