DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 30. France is
keen for its companies to participate in the construction of
hydroelectric power stations being built on the Zarafshan river in
Tajikistan, Trend

This was stated during a meeting between Tajikistan's Minister
of energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma, and France's Ambassador
to Tajikistan, Elsa Pignol.

establishing new partnerships, highlighting not only hydro projects
but also the potential for solar energy collaboration.
In June 2023, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan began the first phase of

Zarafshan river. The parties plan to first build the 140-megawatt
Yavan hydropower plant.
Following that, the parties will proceed with the construction
of the Fandaryo hydropower station, which will have a capacity of
135 megawatts and an estimated cost of approximately $270
