Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan Debate Strengthening Cooperation In Key Sectors


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 12. Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan have discussed further strengthening of strategic partnership and cooperation in key sectors, Trend reports.

The issue was discussed at the meeting between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in Ashgabat.

The negotiations focused on deepening multifaceted cooperation, especially in political, inter-parliamentary, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

The sides noted the importance of further growth of mutual trade turnover, development of cross-border trade zones, as well as strengthening cooperation in such sectors as energy, transportation, agriculture, and water management.

President Mirziyoyev is in Ashgabat on a working visit, during which he participated in the international forum“Interconnection of Times and Civilizations – the Basis of Peace and Development”.

The forum was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where the leaders of the CIS, Mongolia, Iran, and Pakistan gathered. In addition, the Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, the Head of Tatarstan, heads of international organizations, government members, renowned scientists, cultural figures, and diplomats were also among the distinguished guests.
