BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 4. ADA University
hosted the V International Forum“New Challenges in Education” on
October 4, Trend
reports.
According to the information, the International Forum was held
in hybrid format with the partnership of the Ministry of Science
and Education of Azerbaijan, the World Education Forum, and
Education Development Fund, with organizational support of the
experimental-communication platform of education workers
“T-Network” and ADA University, with media support of the newspaper
“Azerbaijani teacher”(Azərbaycan muallimi),“Education TV” (Tehsil
TV) and magazine“Azerbaijani school” (Azərbaycan məktəbi).
The primary objective was to address emerging difficulties in
education, enhance focus on environmental education, particularly
the concept of "green education," and attain additional quality
enhancement by accommodating the educational demands of
contemporary times.
The International Forum, dedicated to the“Year of Solidarity
for a Green World” and containing the idea of COP29, was held under
the motto“A Better Educated Future”.
The key speakers of the Forum were Dominic Savage, Director of
the World Education Forum, and Andreas Schleicher, Head of the
Education and Skills Department of the Organization for Economic
Cooperation and Development (OECD).
Dominik Savage made an extensive presentation on“What
initiatives can individuals schools take to promote effectively
green skills?” and Andreas Schleicher on“Educating for
sustainability”.
Also, the coordinator of eco-schools in Estonia, Maris Magi,
gave a presentation on“How to raise environmentally conscious
students? Lessons from Eco-Schools”, ADA University Vice Rector
Vafa Kazdal on ' Participation and Collaboration of Ecosystem in
Education', renowned pedagogical scientist and education researcher
Ozgur Bolat on 'How Green Affects Children's Achievement and
Happiness?'.
The forum covered the topics of environmental literacy and
behavioral culture, green challenges and commitment to education,
green skills strategy: the future of education and eco-innovation,
leadership and eco-efficiency in education, green learning
environment and teacher training, ecosystem of participation and
cooperation in education.
The International Forum, moderated by Jafar Mansimi, head of the
T-Network platform and doctoral student in education management,
featured discussions around questions on the following topics:
“What green challenges are there in education and what obligations
do these challenges create?”,“What steps should be taken to
educate environmentally friendly schoolchildren?”,“What
traditional approaches in education should be replaced?” and“How
should the idea of a green school be integrated into existing
curricula?”.
The Forum was based on the direction“Education following the
requirements of the 21st century” of the document“Azerbaijan 2030:
National Priorities of Socio-Economic Development”.
