Trade Turnover Between Tajikistan And Pakistan Grows


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 13. A whopping 62 percent year-on-year growth, the trade transaction between Pakistan and Tajikistan reached $53 million in 2023, Trend reports.

According to Tajikistan's Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the announcement was made during a meeting between Tajikistan's Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Zavqi Zavqizoda, and Pakistan's Minister of Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, within the frame of the 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in Islamabad.

Zavqi Zavqizoda encouraged Khan to facilitate Pakistani investments in priority sectors of Tajikistan's economy, including green energy projects and joint industrial ventures such as textile manufacturing.

The discussions covered expanding bilateral trade, increasing export goods, and enhancing cooperation in trade, economy, transport, and logistics. The ministers also explored the use of Pakistani transit routes and ports and discussed improving sugar imports.

According to Tajikistan's National Statistical Agency, the country's total international trade turnover in 2023 exceeded $8.3 billion, a 13.9 percent rise from 2022.
