Azerbaijan To Host Precop Event In October

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 6. Azerbaijan will host a PreCOP event on October 10-11, Advisor to the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Rustam Hasanov said during the Law and Climate International Conference in Baku today, Trend reports.

He noted that the event will bring together the environmental ministers of the countries, which will join COP29 as parties, and also discuss the agenda of the event, including upcoming issues.

To decode, each conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is preceded by a preparation meeting known as the PreCop, which takes place around a month in advance. The goal of this meeting is to give a selected group of countries with an informal setting to debate and exchange opinions on some major political aspects of the negotiations in order to offer, to the extent possible, political advice for future negotiations.
