Azerbaijan Becomes Global Climate Leader - UN Official

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 3. Azerbaijan, which will host COP29, has become a global leader in climate action, Director of the UN Climate Secretariat's Reporting Office Donald Cooper said during the panel on "Biennial transparency reports (BTRs) as a tool for building national capacity" at the High-Level Dialogue held today in Baku, Trend reports.

According to Cooper, as they push for climate change policies, politicians and officials worldwide should bear in mind the critical importance of clearly communicating climate issues in language that everyone can understand.

"Many people around the world have limited understanding of the real climate problems facing humanity, and the main issues are the terms used and the complexity of their comprehension. There needs to be more explanation of the details of actions and reports," he noted.

Cooper thanked Azerbaijan for hosting COP29 in November and for launching the Baku Global Climate Transparency Platform.

"I want to thank the parties for advancing our ideas, and also Azerbaijan for becoming a global leader, guiding us forward, those who bear the burden of ensuring the survival of the world for another year, 10 years, 50 years, and beyond," he added.
