PARIS, France, August 6. Azerbaijani wrestler
Mariya Stadnik has concluded her performance at the Paris Olympics,
Trend reports.
Wrestling competitions in three additional weight categories
commenced today. Representing Azerbaijan in the 50 kg category,
Stadnik aimed to reach the Olympic summit at her fifth Olympics.
However, this time, she fell short of her goal.
The two-time silver and two-time bronze medalist began the
competition in the 1/8 finals, where she confidently defeated
Anastasia Blayvas of Germany with a score of 6:2, advancing to the
1/4 finals. In her second bout, she faced Otgonjargal Dolgorjav of
Mongolia. The intense match ended in a 4:4 tie, but Dolgorjav
advanced based on the quality of points scored. As the Mongolian
competitor lost her subsequent match, Stadnik's journey at the
Paris Olympics ended without a medal for the first time.
Mariya Stadnik previously won silver medals at the 2012 London
and 2016 Rio Olympics, and bronze medals at the 2008 Beijing and
2020 Tokyo Olympics.
