ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 6. Kazakhstan
proposes the implementation of global gas projects with the
countries of the region, the nation's Minister of Energy, Almasadam
Satkaliyev, said at the first meeting of the energy Ministers of
the Central Asian states and the Deputy Minister of Energy of
Azerbaijan in Astana today, Trend reports.
"Currently, Kazakhstan is beginning to implement a global
project in the field of developing and transmitting 'green' energy
with Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan and is also actively discussing the
construction of the large-scale Kambarata-1 HPP with Kyrgyzstan and
Uzbekistan.
In this regard, I propose considering the possibility of
implementing similar projects with the countries of the region,
particularly in the gas sector," he explained.
The Kazakh minister noted the immense potential for developing
energy cooperation and strengthening existing ties between the
Central Asian countries.
According to him, today, the challenges facing the Central Asian
countries include global disruptions in the stability of energy
resource supplies, fluctuations in oil and gas prices, and other
factors.
"To ensure the reliability of energy supplies, it's necessary to
develop mechanisms for forecasting and managing these challenges,
as well as strengthening cooperation between our countries,"
Satkaliyev suggested.
He also called on his colleagues to intensify efforts to
strengthen cooperation by expanding opportunities for energy
resource trade, developing low-carbon initiatives, achieving carbon
neutrality, and facilitating a phased energy transition.
Following the meeting, the heads of the energy departments of
the Central Asian countries signed a communiqué, which will lay the
foundation for further successful cooperation in all key areas
between the countries.
To note, the meeting is being chaired by Satkaliyev.
The event also schedules speeches by the energy ministers of
Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
