Esports World Cup: Rainbow Six Siege, Apex Legends and Honor of Kings headline Week 5 bill in Riyadh

Hot on the heels of a historic weekend where new champions were crowned across three exhilarating competitions, the Esports World Cup returns to the limelight this Wednesday with a trio of highly anticipated tournaments topping the Week 5 bill.

Since its arrival on July 3, audiences have witnessed a series of elite Esports World Cup showdowns live from Boulevard Riyadh City. Throughout its first four weeks, this summer-long celebration of competitive excellence and esports fandom has captivated audiences near and far – providing thrilling moments and non-stop entertainment across nine accliamed tournaments.

With the Esports World Cup officially at the halfway stage, it’s full speed ahead to the start of the second half, beginning with Rainbow Six Siege. This $2 million tournament kicks off at SEF Arena at 2 pm on Wednesday - welcoming 16 clubs competing in two groups of eight. Flying the flag for the Middle East is Geekay Esports, the Emirati club set to compete against opposition from the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. Rainbow Six Siege runs daily until Sunday (August 4) with $750,000 and 1,000 EWC Club Championship points awaiting the winners.

Another making its Esports World Cup debut is Apex Legends. The $2 million tournament hosts 40 international clubs – split into two groups of 20 teams who face a 10-game series to reach the finals. Among the highly competitive field are Saudi Arabia’s Team Falcons, Ukraine’s Natus Vincere (NAVI), Canada’s Gaimin Gladiators, and Japanese club Crazy Raccoon - all winners of EWC events this summer. An Apex Legends victory would strengthen their bids for the highly coveted EWC Club Championship – and audiences are assured of epic esports drama across its four-day duration.

Elsewhere during Week 5, the Honor of Kings Mid-Season Invitational 2024 takes center stage with 12 clubs vying for glory. The $3 million tournament begins with group stage action on Thursday before the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and Grand Final take place over the weekend.

The Esports World Cup is the pinnacle of professional esports – running from July 3 – August 25 with 22 tournaments across 21 titles throughout its eight-week duration.
