Israel Media: 75 Army Violations, Abuses Of Gaza Prisoners Probed
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Amman, July 30 (Petra) -- Some 75 violations by Israeli soldiers in the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip are under investigation, including the death of 30 Gazans held at an Israeli detention facility, according to Israel's Channel 13.
An Israeli investigative committee revealed "harsh conditions" of Palestinian detainees from the Gaza Strip in Sde Teiman detention facility, and proposed shuttering it and transferring the detainees to the Israeli Prison Service.
The panel said an ad hoc advisory committee probing the abuse of Palestinians who were rounded up in Gaza and moved to military detention facilities on the Gaza border, headed by retired judge Ilan Schiff, passed its findings to Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi.
Israel's Channel 12 reported that Defense Minister Yoav Galant asked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to investigate National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir for ordering police not to move against far-right activists who stormed the Sde Teiman military base to protest the arrest of army soldiers accused of abuses of prisoners.
