Amman, July 29 (Petra)-- The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources announced on Monday a new tender inviting bids for the design, supply, installation, and maintenance of off-grid solar energy systems at multiple Public Security Department (PSD) locations, including highway patrol units, civil defense stations, and Badia forces.
This initiative aims to enhance energy independence and efficiency at these critical sites by deploying solar panel systems capable of generating electricity without relying on the national grid. The tender specifies a total installation of 675 kilowatts peak (kWp) of solar panels, 1,750 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of storage batteries, and 450 kilowatts (kW) of inverters.
These systems will be supported by backup diesel generators to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
Qualified contractors, classified in electromechanics and renewable energy (first or second category) by the Government Tenders Department and licensed by the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (categories A or B), are encouraged to participate. Tender documents are available on the Ministry's website, gov, from Monday, July 29, until noon on Sunday, August 4.
Prospective bidders must submit inquiries to ... by Tuesday, August 13, and complete their bid submissions by noon on Thursday, August 22. A mandatory field visit to the proposed sites will take place on Tuesday, August 6, for Ashqaf, al-Karama, and Shabeka, and on Thursday, August 8, for Tuba and Bayer.
Each bid must include a bank guarantee or certified check of JD23,000, valid for 120 days from the bid submission deadline. The non-refundable fee for obtaining a bid copy is JD300.
This tender follows a memorandum of understanding signed on July 14 between the Ministry and the PSD to implement off-grid solar units at nine systems across five sites. The project is designed to bolster energy self-sufficiency in remote areas, enabling the PSD to provide continuous services to citizens in line with the Cabinet's directive to exempt these locations from standard electricity distribution protocols.
