Egypt PM Monitors Progress Of Warraq Island Redevelopment

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Sunday stressed the need to accelerate the redevelopment of Warraq Island, urging officials to adhere to timelines for evacuating residents and compensating them for their losses.

Madbouly chaired a meeting with Housing Minister Sherif El-Sherbiny, the Director of Military Surveying, the Director of Giza Security, the Head of the Egyptian Endowment Authority, and other officials.

The prime minister emphasized the importance of providing timely compensation to residents affected by the redevelopment and preventing the return of informal settlements. He also directed officials to continue developing the island's infrastructure and services.

El-Sherbiny briefed attendees on the progress of evacuating homes and lands within the development area. He said significant strides had been made in preparing the island for the next phase, which will include the construction of residential and commercial projects.

Osama Shawky, head of the New Warraq Island Development Authority, reported that surveying teams had been deployed to expedite the process of voluntary sales for residents. He also highlighted efforts to transfer property ownership and distribute allocation letters.

Several government agencies presented updates on the handover of lands under their jurisdiction to the development authority, as requested by Madbouly. The prime minister emphasized the need to expedite this process to integrate the land into the overall development plan.
