Axpo Approves Construction Of Wind Farm In Finland
Axpo, which acquired the project rights in October 2023, has now approved further investment in the project and plans to start pre-construction work later this year.
The construction of the four wind turbines, each with an output of 6.2 megawatts (MW) and a hub height of 134 meters, is set to begin in late summer 2025. Contracts have already been signed with turbine manufacturer Vestas. The wind farm, with a total capacity of 24.8 MW, is expected to be commissioned in autumn 2025. Once operational, it will produce around 70 gigawatt hours (GWh) of renewable electricity annually, enough to meet the needs of approximately 17,500 four-person households.
The project will be managed from Axpo's office in Vaasa, located about 25 kilometers from the site. Through its Volkswind subsidiary, Axpo has developed over 90 wind farms in Germany and France, with a total installed capacity exceeding 1500 MW. In France, Axpo is one of the leading companies in the development and construction of wind farms.
