Bannu Jirga Presents Demands For Peaceful Resolution Of Local Incidents

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) In a bid to peacefully address the recent incidents in Bannu, a 40-member Jirga has presented its demands to the administration. The Jirga has made it clear that they will not accept "Operation Azm-e-Istehkam" under any circumstances and demanded the immediate closure of all existing Taliban centers in Bannu.

Additionally, the Jirga emphasized the need to grant the Police full authority and provide them with all necessary resources to handle any unpleasant situations effectively. They also called for the full activation of the Counter terrorism Department (CTD) to take action against terrorists, stating that no other entity should have the authority to intervene or conduct operations.

Among the Jirga's demands is the immediate transfer of injured police personnel to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for treatment, rather than hospitals in Peshawar or other areas. They also expressed strong disapproval of the desecration of mosques, seminaries, or homes under the guise of search operations, and insisted that missing persons be presented before the courts.

Furthermore, the Jirga demanded the reopening of Juma Khan Road and its adjoining routes, which serve as a source of livelihood for many residents, so that people can resume their work.

It is noteworthy that the law and order situation in Bannu has been tense for several days. On Sunday, the Jirga presented the demands above to seek a peaceful resolution to the ongoing issues.
