Finance Minister Announces 'Poorvodaya' Plan For Eastern India's Development In Union Budget 2024-25
The initiative, named 'Poorvodaya', will focus on the all-round development of Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh.
The plan includes support for an industrial node at Gaya as part of the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor. This corridor is expected to catalyze industrial growth in the eastern region.
Sitharaman also announced infrastructure projects worth Rs 26,000 crore for road connectivity. These include the Patna-Purnea expressway, Buxar-Bhagalpur highway, Bodhgaya-Rajgir-Vaishali-Darbhanga road, and an additional two-lane bridge over the Ganga river in Buxar.
The 'Poorvodaya' plan represents a significant push towards addressing regional disparities and promoting balanced economic growth across India.
By focusing on industrial development and improving infrastructure, the government aims to unlock the potential of the eastern states and integrate them more closely with the national economy.
