HMC Receives Over 1.4 Million Outpatients In First Half Of 2024

Doha, Qatar: In the first half of 2024, the Outpatient Department of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) received more than 1.4 million visits, and its laboratory conducted over 11 million tests, as reported in statistics.

Since January 2024, HMC has unveiled monthly statistics from across HMC hospitals and services. According to the data, outpatient services and laboratory tests were the most sought services in the first half of 2024.

HMC is the main public healthcare provider in Qatar, managing 12 hospitals - nine specialist hospitals and three community hospitals - as well as the Ambulance Service and home care services.

The Outpatient Department recorded 1,428,627 visits between January and June 2024, and the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (DLMP) conducted 11,759,079 tests.

The Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement (CPESE) at HMC is implementing a set of system changes to Referral and Booking Management System (RBMS) with the aim to enhance outpatient experience. It includes improving the appointment booking system, reducing waiting time, and ensuring easy access to care.

DLMP focuses on delivering the latest laboratory diagnostic services to patients in HMC and other institutions to enhance diagnosis, treatment, management, and prevention of diseases.

According to the report released yesterday on total activities across HMC hospitals and services in June, the Outpatient Department received 223,223 visits by patients and 1,780,867 laboratory tests were conducted. A total of 24,159 medical reports were processed.

“HMC prides itself on supporting, caring for and treating tens of thousands of patients each month across all of its hospitals and services,” HMC said on X platform.

Within the first six months of 2024, all hospitals across the HMC network treated 197,204 patients. This includes 31,064 patients availing inpatient services in June.

A total of 11,238 babies were born between February and June 2024 at HMC hospitals.

HMC's 'Nesma'ak' customer service helpline 16060 which works 24/7 handled 759,603 calls in the six-month period.

The Emergency Departments at HMC hospitals received 319,891 patients in first half of 2024, and the five Pediatric Emergency Centres of HMC treated 412,750 children.

The Ambulance Service received 191,564 calls and recorded 992 life-flight air ambulance activations within the first six months of 2024. This includes 29,304 calls in June and 206 life-flight air ambulance activations.

The National Mental Health Helpline, which provides professional mental health care and support, received 7,066 calls in the first half of 2024. HMC's Urgent Consultation Service, which offers telephone consultations for urgent conditions without a prior appointment, received 69,454 calls.

Medication home delivery dispatched medicines 30,473 times. Patients have sought dialysis services 56,175 times at HMC during the period.
