19 Political Parties Join Forces In 6 Coalitions For Lower House Elections

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - The register of political parties at the Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Monday announced that 19 parties have formed six political alliances, with the end of the deadline for submitting documents for parties wishing to form alliances to run for elections for the 20th Lower House.

Secretary of the Register of Political Parties at the IEC Ahmad Abu Zaid said that the six alliances formed to run for the parliamentary elections, slated for September 10 are: the Jordanian National Democratic Alliance, the Namaa and Amal (growth and labour) Alliance, the Binaa (construction) Alliance, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Abu Zaid added that the other three are the Unity and National Constitutional Alliance, the National and Leftist List Alliance, and the Progressive Democratic Alliance.

He noted that the commission's board of commissioners has approved three alliances after they completed the submission of the required documents.

These are the Jordanian National Democratic Alliance, which includes the Shula (torch), national movement, Jordanian Al Ghad (tomorrow), Jordanian Al Qudwah (role model), Jordanian Musawah (equality) and Jordanian youth parties; the Namaa and Labour alliance, which includes; and the Binaa alliance, which includes the National Binaa and Binaa and Amal parties.

Abu Zaid also said that three alliances have submitted their documents and are awaiting the decision of the board of commissioners, namely the Unity and National Constitutional alliance, which includes the Jordanian Democratic Unity, National Constitutional, and Jordanian Ansar parties.

The other two are the National and Leftist List alliance, which includes People's Democratic "Hashd", Jordanian Arab Baathist Party, Jordanian Reform and Renewal, and Communist parties, and the Progressive Democratic Alliance, an interim name for the alliance of the Jordanian Social Democratic and Civil Democratic parties, Abu Zaid added.

He pointed out that the six political alliances will submit their candidate lists for the seats allocated to parties in the general constituency starting from July 30, where the nomination phase is scheduled to last for three days.
