Water Supply From Russia To Donetsk Severed Due To Blackout - National Resistance Center

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) In the temporarily occupied Donetsk, the water supply from the Don has stopped. Due to the blackout in southern Russia, the pumping stations on the Don-Donbas water pipeline set up by the invaders failed, which led to a full halt of supplies.

This was reported by the National Resistance Center , Ukrinform learned.

“The Don-Donbas water pipeline built by the invaders is out of operation. Due to a power outage in Russia, the pumping stations of the newly built canal have failed and the water supply has stopped completely. It will take months to repair and the water situation of the occupied territories has worsened," the report says.

It is noted that the Donetsk residents experience interruptions in water supply because the Siversky Donets - Donbas water pipeline is not functioning due to hostilities. To solve the issue, the occupiers spent two years building a new water pipeline from the Don but its capacity never solve the problem, and water is supplied to Donetsk households by an hourly schedule.

The NRC notes that according to international law, it is the invasion force that is obliged to provide for people's livelihood in the occupied areas.

Ukrinform reported earlier that in January 2024, due to the lack of water supply in Donetsk, people were forced to collect and melt snow.
