(MENAFN) On Friday, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) reported that Türkiye saw a total of 1.26 million road motor vehicles registered during the first half of 2024. This represents a notable increase of 19.2 percent compared to the same period in the previous year, highlighting a significant rise in vehicle registrations.

During this six-month period, 508,801 cars were added to the country's vehicle fleet. Among these new registrations, gasoline-fueled cars were the most prevalent, making up 65.2 percent of the total. Hybrid cars followed, accounting for 12.9 percent of the new registrations, while diesel-fueled cars comprised 12.4 percent. Electric cars represented 8.4 percent of the newly registered vehicles, and LPG-fueled cars made up 1.1 percent.

By the end of June, the total number of road motor vehicles registered in Türkiye had reached nearly 30 million, specifically 29.98 million. This total includes various categories of vehicles: cars represented 52.5 percent, motorcycles 18.8 percent, small trucks 15.3 percent, tractors 7.4 percent, trucks 3.3 percent, minibuses 1.7 percent, buses 0.7 percent, and special purpose vehicles 0.3 percent of the overall number.

In June alone, 198,581 road motor vehicles were registered, adding a significant number of new vehicles to the national fleet for that month. This influx of new registrations contributes to the overall increase in the country's vehicle numbers and reflects ongoing trends in vehicle preferences and registrations.
