India improves procedures in Jammu, Kashmir after fatal assault

(MENAFN) Reports from Indian media highlight intensified efforts by the Indian army in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district, where operations have intensified to combat terrorists who have infiltrated from Pakistan. This response comes in the wake of a tragic incident that claimed the lives of four Indian soldiers, including an officer, during a recent encounter.

The deceased were identified as Captain Brijesh Thapa, Naik D Rajesh, Sepoy Bijendra, and Sepoy Ajay Naruka, underscoring the toll exacted by ongoing security challenges in the region. Just days earlier, another attack on a military convoy in Kathua district resulted in the deaths of five soldiers and injuries to five others. Over the past 32 months, the region has witnessed escalating tensions, marked by infiltration attempts and recurrent terrorist strikes that have claimed the lives of 48 Indian Army personnel, as reported by NDTV.

Further exacerbating the situation, recent anti-infiltration operations along the Line of Control in Kupwara district resulted in the elimination of three terrorists. These developments underscore the persistent security threats faced in Jammu and Kashmir, where infiltration from across the border remains a constant concern.

Jammu and Kashmir's Director General of Police, RR Swain, has publicly accused Pakistan of deeply infiltrating various sectors of civil society in the region. He additionally leveled allegations against regional political entities for allegedly aiding and abetting terrorist activities. This complex scenario unfolds against the backdrop of a longstanding territorial dispute between India and Pakistan, which has been the subject of multiple armed conflicts since Pakistan's annexation of part of Kashmir in 1947.
