Highlights of Modi`s trip to Moscow

(MENAFN) Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially arrived in Russia for his first bilateral foreign visit following his election to a third consecutive term. Modi's meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin are entering their second day, marking a significant moment as the two leaders resume traditional summits that date back to the year 2000.

On the first day of discussions, the talks took a more informal tone as Putin welcomed Modi to his Novo-Ogaryovo presidential residence, located just outside Moscow. The Kremlin has indicated that the second day will shift focus to more formal negotiations, underscoring the importance both Moscow and New Delhi place on this visit.

The significance of Modi's trip is highlighted by the fact that the last bilateral meeting between him and Putin occurred in 2021 during Putin's visit to New Delhi. The two leaders later had a separate encounter at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Samarkand in September 2022. Modi's previous visit to Russia took place in 2019 when he attended the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.

This visit aims to strengthen the enduring ties between India and Russia and to pave the way for renewed discussions on key bilateral issues.
