Doha, Qatar: The Federation of Global Engineers (FGE) and the Institute of Engineers India (IEI), Qatar chapter, recently hosted the pivotal Green energy conference 2024 at MES Indian School.

This significant event, held in collaboration with the Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE) and the Solar Energy Society of India (SESI), emphasized innovative solutions for a sustainable future.

The event was graced by distinguished diplomats including Sandeep Kumar, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy; Mohd Nazrul Islam, Ambassador of Bangladesh; Mohd Ismaila, Ambassador of Ghana; Dr. Naresh Bikram, Ambassador of Nepal; and Mohd Mohideen, Ambassador of Sri Lanka.

Additionally, leading figures from the Qatari engineering & business sphere such as Er. Khalid Fakhroo, Er. Abdullah Al Hajri, Er. Saleha Al Kubaisi, Er. Rashid Al Rahimi from Kahramaa-Tarsheed and Er. Hanifuddin from Engineers Australia, Qatar, along with academic experts like Dr. Saud from Qatar University and Dr. Rafal Al Mufti from Liverpool University, contributed their insights on sustainable practices.

The conference also welcomed esteemed delegates from ISTE and SESI, New Delhi, including Dr. Pratapsinh Desai, President of ISTE; Dr. S.M. Ali, Executive Secretary of ISTE; Dr. Chandrahas Handa, Director at Vidarbha Institute of Technology; Dr. D.S. More, Director-Principal at Ranbir Singh State Institute of Engineering & Technology; and V. Malla Reddy, Chairman of Malla Reddy Engineering College. Their participation added significant value to the discussions and highlighted the importance of international cooperation in achieving sustainable goals.

A major highlight of the conference was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ISTE and FGE. This MoU, signed by Dr. Pratapsinh Desai, President of ISTE, and Er. Ahmed Jassim Al Jolo, President of FGE, represents a significant step towards enhancing global collaboration in green energy innovation. The agreement aims to foster joint research, knowledge sharing, and the development of sustainable energy projects across Asia, the MENA region, and beyond.

The conference featured robust participation from several Indian schools in Qatar, underscoring the importance of involving the younger generation in green initiatives. The interactive Science Exhibition allowed students to present their innovative models & projects focused on sustainability, while the Science Quiz engaged them in topics related to renewable energy and environmental conservation. These activities highlighted the critical role of education in driving the future of green energy.

A touching tribute to the late AC Sarkar, a revered member of the Qatar Engineers' community, was a key feature of the event. Subrata Mukherjee, Executive Director at Qatar Design Consortium, also delivered a heartfelt address, commemorating Sarkar's dedication to fostering engineering excellence and sustainability.
