Uzbekistan Notes Growth In Trade Turnover Volume With Afghanistan


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 15. The trade turnover volume between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan reached $382.8 million from January through May 2024, Trend reports.

According to the data from Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency, this figure indicates a 16.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year ($329.3 million in January–May 2023).

Afghanistan made it into the top ten list of countries with the biggest slice of the pie when it comes to foreign trade turnover in Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan's exports to Afghanistan totaled $372.3 million, which is more than 14 percent over the year ($326.5 million in January–May 2023).

The volume of imports from Afghanistan to Uzbekistan reached $10.5 million from January through May 2024. This figure has increased by 275 percent year-on-year ($2.8 million in January–May 2023).

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover volume amounted to $26.7 billion from January through May 2024. This figure indicates a 3 percent growth year-on-year ($25.9 billion in January–May 2023).

Uzbekistan's exports reached $10.8 billion, while imports totaled $15.9 billion during this period.
