5th session of Japan-Arab Economic Forum commences in Tokyo
(MENAFN) The fifth session of the Japan-Arab Economic Forum commenced in Tokyo, Japan, with the aim of bolstering economic ties between Japan and the Arab countries. Organized by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in collaboration with Japan’s Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economy, Trade, and Industry, the two-day forum serves as a platform to explore avenues for enhancing economic cooperation.
The forum kicked off with a dedicated economic and commercial conference, bringing together representatives from both the public and private sectors across Arab nations and Japan. Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, underscored the pivotal role of the private sector in advancing trade relations between the two regions. He called for intensified partnerships between government entities and private enterprises, as well as among companies themselves. Aboul Gheit urged the Japanese government to continue supporting its companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, in expanding their presence and operations within Arab markets. Concurrently, he encouraged Arab companies to seize opportunities within Japan’s dynamic market.
Highlighting the potential for growth, Aboul Gheit identified several key sectors ripe for collaboration, including education, energy transition, digital technology, healthcare, artificial intelligence, and more. He emphasized the forum’s role in fostering partnership opportunities across these fields, envisioning strategic alliances that align with the economic aspirations and capabilities of both Japan and the Arab states.
