70 People Killed, 86 Injured In Nepal Floods, Landslides Since June


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW DELHI, July 8 (KUNA) -- At least 70 people lost their lives, 86 others were injured and five people were missing since 10th June till Monday due to flooding and landslide that hit the country following incessant rains, the Nepalese police said.
Floods and landslides have claimed 70 lives, while 86 have been injured and five others have gone missing in the Himalayan nation from June 10 till today, Nepalese news agency Rashtriya Samachar Samiti said quoting Central Police Spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General Dan Bahadur Karki.
So far 966 floodings and landslides were reported damaging 86 houses and killing 335 cattles. Due to the incessant heavy rains, major rivers across the country were overflowing above the danger marks, several areas remained inundated by floodwaters, road and flight services were hit and several houses were destroyed.
Thousands of security personnel supported by the local people are engaged in rescue and rehabilitation efforts in the country as incessant rains continue to affect life across the landlocked country. (end)
