Amman, July 4 (Petra) - Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), Abdullah Al Rabeeah, on Thursday launched a series of humanitarian projects to support Syrian and Palestinian refugees, as well as the host community in Jordan.
During the inauguration ceremony, Rabeeah expressed his gratitude for the collaborative efforts with Jordan in supporting Palestinian and Syrian refugees. He praised Jordan for setting a commendable example in providing care and support for these communities. On behalf of Saudi Arabia, he extended sincere thanks to Jordan for its exemplary hospitality and comprehensive assistance to refugees.
Rabeeah highlighted that Saudi Arabia's contributions go beyond material aid, representing a message of "solidarity and brotherhood" to those in need. These projects aim to instill hope and resilience in orphans, cancer patients, deaf patients, and Syrian refugees in the Zaatari camp displaced by war.
He announced a cooperation agreement between KSrelief and the World Food Program to implement the fourth phase of a food security initiative for Syrian refugees in Jordanian camps, amounting to $12.8 million. This phase will benefit 50,000 individuals each month, covering 65% of the Zaatari camp's population.
He also announced a $3.6 million project to treat Palestinian cancer patients in Gaza in partnership with the King Hussein Cancer Center, benefiting 150 patients. Another agreement was signed to support Syrian and Jordanian orphans in partnership with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, amounting to $1.3 million and benefiting 1,000 orphans across Jordan.
Rabeeah highlighted a framework agreement for voluntary medical projects, including cochlear implants and auditory rehabilitation for Palestinian patients in partnership with Istiklal Hospital.
He noted that Saudi Arabia has provided over $5.3 billion in aid to Palestine and refugee-hosting countries in recent years, with approximately $480 million channeled through KSrelief. Saudi Arabia also operated two relief bridges consisting of 54 planes and 8 ships and launched a popular donation campaign after the Gaza crisis, raising over $184 million, he said.
Rabeeah stated that Saudi Arabia has contributed $129.6 billion to 169 countries globally, with KSrelief alone providing $6.8 billion to 100 countries in cooperation with 187 partners, implementing nearly 3,000 relief projects. He affirmed that Saudi Arabia remains committed to its humanitarian mission, supporting needy communities worldwide.
