WhatsApp tests new notification feature when sending photos, videos fails

(MENAFN) WhatsApp, once solely a messaging app, has evolved into a popular platform for sharing photos and videos globally. Recently, it enhanced the user experience by allowing photo sharing in HD quality. However, this improvement has a downside, as WhatsApp currently does not notify users if media downloads fail or pause.

Fortunately, WhatsApp is addressing this issue. The app is testing a new notification feature designed to improve the user experience by informing users about the status of their media uploads. This feature, introduced in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS, aims to notify users immediately if the media download process is paused or fails, eliminating the need to open the app to check.

With this new feature, users will receive live updates on their media upload status. If an upload is interrupted due to connection issues or switching to another app, a notification will inform users which photo or video was affected. For example, a notification like "Download paused, open app to resume downloading" will alert users to the interruption, allowing them to resume the download promptly.

Previously, users often did not realize their download had paused or failed until they reopened WhatsApp, causing delays in sharing important media. This new system ensures users receive instant alerts about any interruptions or failures in their uploads, allowing them to address these issues without delay.

Currently, the notification feature is available to some beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp Beta for iOS and is expected to roll out to more users in the coming weeks.
