Zelensky: Kharkiv Offensive Shows That Existing Pressure On Putin Not Enough

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The offensive on Kharkiv has been repelled, but Putin's attempt to expand the war on the eastern front has shown that the existing international pressure on Putin is not enough.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky during his opening speech at a meeting of the European Council in Brussels, Ukrinform reports.

"In May, Putin tried to expand the war by deploying a new front in the east of our country. Thanks to the bravery of our people and your decisions, we stopped the Russian offensive. But this new offensive proved that the existing pressure on Russia is not enough. Therefore, first of all, I would like to mention military support," Zelensky said, addressing the leaders of EU member states.

According to him, artillery shells and the fulfillment of every promise are important not only to protect lives, but also to destroy the illusion of Russians that they will achieve something with war. The President of Ukraine noted that it was now possible to restore security to Kharkiv.

"This is due to the elimination of Russian missile launchers near our border. Each of you knows how this became possible. And we must also protect Kharkiv and any city in Ukraine from Russian guided bombs. This is a big problem. Our long-range strikes and modern air defense are the key to ending this terror," the Head of State said.

As reported, on June 27, a Russian strike damaged a dormitory of a higher education institution and residential buildings in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv.
