Palestinian fighters clash with Israeli soldiers

(MENAFN) In a recent escalation of violence, the Jenin battalion announced that its fighters had detonated explosive devices against Israeli Occupation vehicles during an incursion into the city and its camp. This operation led to the arrest of two Palestinians by Israeli forces, further heightening tensions in the area.

Jenin, a city in the northern West Bank, has become a hotspot for clashes after special Israeli units infiltrated the vicinity of Khalil Suleiman Hospital, a significant government facility. The intrusion sparked armed confrontations, with fighters from both the Al-Qassam Brigades and the Al-Quds Brigades engaging the Israeli forces. Both brigades reported exchanging gunfire with the occupation troops, intensifying the ongoing conflict.

A widely shared video showed the aftermath of an explosion in the Marj Ibn Amer plain, north of Jenin, depicting Israeli forces evacuating their wounded following the detonation of a bomb. This incident underscores the increasing use of explosive devices by Palestinian fighters and the rising violence in the region.

Local media sources reported that Israeli special forces arrested two recently freed prisoners, Jamal Huwail and Jamal Zubaidi, along with Abd al-Ghani Abu al-Hija, at the entrance to the Jenin refugee camp. These arrests have added fuel to the unrest and highlighted the persistent Israeli operations in Jenin.

The Red Crescent reported that its teams in Jenin attended to a young man who had sustained facial injuries from live bullet shrapnel. However, the Israeli occupation forces obstructed the ambulance crews' efforts during the raid, complicating the provision of medical aid.

Concurrent with its destructive campaign in Gaza since October 7, the Israeli military has intensified its incursions and operations in the West Bank. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, these actions have resulted in the deaths of 553 Palestinians, including 133 children, and injuries to approximately 5,200 individuals as of Wednesday.

The broader conflict, backed unequivocally by the United States, has left over 124,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, including many women and children. Additionally, more than 10,000 people are reported missing amidst extensive destruction and famine, which has claimed numerous lives, especially among children.

This continuous violence highlights the severe humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territories, with communities facing relentless military operations, increasing casualties, and escalating tensions that seem to have no end in sight.
