Doha: Sporting the colours of Wathnan Racing, the two-year-old, Shareholder (Not This Time) continued to shine when landing the Gr.2 Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot in Berkshire, England, yesterday.

Trained by Karl Burke and ridden by James Doyle, the American-bred colt gave a second royal winner to connections.

With Binadham (Kodiac) leading the far side group, Shareholder was happy to wait just behind the early leader. Still on the bridle, the unbeaten colt was left in the lead inside the final 200m after challenging the tough Tropical Storm (Eqtidaar) who finished second. Arizona Blaze (Sergei Prokofiev) who ran alone on the near side was third.

“He is still learning”, said the winning jockey after the race,“I tried to keep a lid on him for as long as possible until we got down to the inside pole. I just wanted to give him time to get organised. His debut was a bit messy at Beverley. It's a hard place to teach a horse but he learned plenty. He has got a big engine. A big thank you to Karl Burke. He produced these lovely horses, which is not an easy thing to do. Karl was very confident so when he is confident, you respect his opinion.”

Bred by Skyfall Thoroughbreds Llc, Shareholder is out of Cloudy Dancer (Invincible Spirit), who is a half-sister to Gr.3 winner Gale Force Ten (Oasis Dream) and a half-sister to Listed winner Rousay (Muhaarar).
