Doha, Qatar: The foreign ministers of the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and the Arab Republic of Egypt held a virtual meeting on Monday, June 3, where they discussed the developments in mediation efforts undertaken by the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the United States to reach an exchange deal that leads to a permanent ceasefire, the release of hostages and detainees, and sufficient delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip.
The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the UAE affirmed their support for these efforts.
The ministers also reviewed a proposal presented by President Joe Biden on June 2nd aimed at achieving these goals.
Furthermore, the foreign ministers of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, and Egypt emphasized the importance of seriously and positively engaging with the American president's proposal to agree on a deal that ensures a permanent ceasefire and adequate aid delivery across Gaza, thus ending the suffering of the people in the Strip.
The ministers underscored the necessity to stop the aggression on Gaza, end the humanitarian catastrophe it causes, facilitate the return of displaced individuals to their areas, and demand a full withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the Strip, along with launching a reconstruction process as part of a comprehensive plan to implement the two-state solution based on relevant UN Security Council resolutions, with specified timelines and binding guarantees.
Moreover, the ministers emphasized that implementing the two-state solution, which envisions an independent and sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living in security and peace alongside Israel according to relevant international legality resolutions, is the path to achieving security and peace for all in the region.
