Kyrgyzstan's And Russia's Defense Ministers Sign New Agreements


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 26 . Kyrgyzstan andRussia have signed two documents following the meeting of theCouncil of Defense Ministers of Member States of the ShanghaiCooperation Organization (SCO) in Astana (Kazakhstan), Trend reports.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, Defense MinistersSergey Shoigu and Baktybek Bekbolotov, during their meeting inAstana, signed two interdepartmental agreements: "On InformationExchange" and "On Cooperation in the Field of Detection andAssessment of Radiological, Chemical, and BiologicalSituations."

During the negotiations, the heads of defense ministriesdiscussed current issues of cooperation in the military sphere andoutlined prospects for further collaboration.

The Council of Ministers of Defense of the SCO in Astana wasattended by the heads of defense ministries of SCO member states,the Secretary-General, the Director of the Executive Committee ofthe Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the SCO, as well as theDefense Minister of Belarus.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that the SCO is not amilitary-political bloc and that cooperation in the military sphereis not directed against other countries.
