Journalists Hamza Dahdouh And Mustafa Abu Thraya Killed In An Israeli Airstrike In Khan Yunis

Two journalists were killed, including the son of veteran Al Jazeera journalist Wael Al-Dahdouh, and another journalist was injured today in an Israeli airstrike targeting their vehicle west of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, according to local sources.

The sources reported that an Israeli drone fired a missile at a vehicle carrying journalists in al-Mawasi area to the west of Khan Yunis, leading to the death of journalist Hamza, 29, the son of Wael Al-Dahdouh, and journalist Mustafa Thraya. The airstrike also resulted in the injury of two journalists, Ahmed Al-Burash and Amer Abu Amr, both working with the Palestine Today TV.

The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate has documented the killing of 102 journalists and the injury of 71 others by the Israeli occupation forces in the year 2023 alone.

Wael Al-Dahdouh had previously lost his wife, son and daughter in an Israeli airstrike which targeted the home they were sheltering at in the Nusseirat refugee camp in late October 2023

Also, on Sunday at least 16 civilians were killed last night as Israeli airstrikes targeted a residence in Khan Yunis and an UNRWA school in the central Gaza Strip, according to local sources.

The sources reported that the Israeli military targeted a house in Khan Yunis housing a large number of displaced individuals, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least 12 civilians and injuries to 50 others with varying degrees of severity.

Furthermore, Israeli warplanes struck a UNRWA school in the Mughazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, leading to the death of at least 4 individuals, including a woman.

The attack extended to the use of quadcopter drones firing intensively at homes and streets in the Mughazi camp.

Simultaneously, Israeli military aircraft executed a fiery assault near the Sekka street west of the camp, accompanied by intense artillery fire from

Israeli forces stationed near the camp's entrance on Salah al-Din Street.

Simultaneously, eyewitnesses reported a fire breaking out east of the neighboring Nuseirat camp due to the sustained Israeli airstrikes.

Local sources also indicated that Israeli warplanes carried out fierce airstrikes on the Tel al-Zaatar area and the city of Deir al-Balah, resulting in casualties.

Concurrently, Israeli naval vessels heavily fired west of Deir al-Balah.
