Suicide Attack Kills 9 Soldiers N. Pakistan


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD, Aug 31 (KUNA) -- At least nine soldiers were killed while five others injured in a suicide attack targeting a military convoy in Pakistan's northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province bordering Afghanistan late on Thursday, said military.
According to a Police statement, a suicide attack at a military convoy in the Jani Khel general area of Bannu district in KPK killed at least nine soldiers and wounded five others. It confirmed that a suicide bomber riding a motorbike blew himself up on a military convoy.
Meanwhile, caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has condemned the attack and expressed grief over the martyrdom of the soldiers.
The attack comes at a time when terror activities have risen in the country following the end of ceasefire by the banned outfit Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan with the government last year. This was the highest single day death toll of the Pakistan army in any terrorist attack this year. (end)
