Jordan's 1St Municipalities Cleanliness Award Celebrates Development, Service Improvements


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - Deputising for his majesty King Abdullah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration Tawfiq Kreishan on Sunday attended the awards ceremony for the 2023 Municipalities Cleanliness Award in its first edition.

Kreishan said that the occasion reflects His Majesty's directives, which he stressed during the closing session of the Municipalities conference held in December 2019, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Kreishan said Jordan's municipalities began to foon development, services and their community role, and the new Local Administration Law of 2021 allowed municipalities to partner with the private sector to establish local investment and development projects, enabling them to enhance their revenue and improve services.

He added that the government, through the ministry, has provided emergency aid to the municipalities amounting to approximately JD68 million, primarily aimed to support them with cleaning equipment.

The minister added that the government officially appointed around 2,550 sanitation workers, which increased their monthly salaries about JD100 per month.

Winners of the third category include Bani Hamida Municipality, which won JD300,000, Ashari Municipality which won JD200,000 and Basilia Municipality which was awarded JD100,000.

As for winners of the second category, Wasatiya Municipality won JD400,000, Dhiban Municipality received JD300,000 and Ayl Municipality won JD200,000.

In the first category, the Greater Salt Municipality won JD500,000, Greater Irbid Municipality received JD400,000 and Greater Madaba Municipality won JD300,000.
