Doha, Qatar: Qatar overpowered India in straight sets 25-20, 25-19, 25-19 for their first win in Pool E in the 22nd Asian Senior Men's Volleyball Championship at Al Ghadir Hall in Urmia, Iran, yesterday.

Qatar put their acts together and attacked well to win the first set 25-20 against India, who aimed to better their performance in line with their developmental plan under the FIVB Ad Hoc Committee.

The second set was the same script as Qatar took command from the very beginning, with Raimi Wadidie and Youssef Oughlaf attacking devastatingly. As India briefly struggled to find their form at the near end of the set, Qatar shone through their splendid offensive tactics and cruised on to a well-fought 25-19 win.

The Qataris frustrated India's defense with various strategies in the third set.

Argentinean Camilo Andres Soto, head coach of Qatar, had confidence in his players and they did not let him down as the Qataris extended the lead to 18-13.

The Indians outfits found Qataris, strengthened by hard-attacking Raimi Wadidie, an impossible nut to crack to go down 19-25 in the third set.
