Jordan Parliamentary Delegation Meets Leaders Of Iraqi Political Blocs

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - A Jordanian parliamentary delegation, led by First Deputy Speaker of the Lower House Ahmad Khalaileh,
on Tuesday met prominent leaders from various political blocs in the Iraqi parliament during their official visit to Baghdad.
Khalaileh reaffirmed Jordan's unwavering commitment to support Iraq in achieving security and stability. Despite the recent political changes in Iraq,“the strong bond between the two countries remains unshaken”, Khalaileh said and expressed hope for further cooperation, especially through joint investment in mega-projects.
He also stressed the Kingdom's keenness to invest in Iraq and called for support in this endeavour.
Ammar Al Hakim, head of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement, underlined“the deep-rooted relations” between Jordan and Iraq and stressed the importance of economic integration and cooperation between the two nations.
Of particular interest was the project to extend an oil pipeline from Iraq to Aqaba in Jordan and on to El Arish in Egypt. The project has received support from all political blocs in Iraq, he said.
For his part, Hadi Al Amiri, head of the Al Fatah Alliance, called for intensifying efforts to strengthen bilateral relations.
Former prime minister and leader of the State of Law Coalition Nouri Al Maliki echoed this sentiment, calling for the further development of relations between Arab countries and emphasising, in particular, the importance of strengthening relations between Iraq and Jordan. He also stressed Iraq's keenness to host the Arab Summit in Baghdad to reaffirm its integral role within the Arab world.
Secretary-General of the Asa'ib Ahl Al Haq movement Qais Al Khazali highlighted how the two countries are“on the same page” when it comes to the Palestinian cause, praising Jordan's support for the cause and its commitment to protecting the holy sites in Jerusalem.
