Israeli colonists accused of ‘terrorism’

(MENAFN) Two Israeli colonists have been accused on accusations connected to terrorism after claims that they damaged Palestinian possessions in an isolated occurrence. The cases followed the Israeli safety representatives promise to crack down on “nationalist terrorism” by colonists in the West Bank.

One of the offenders, who was not recognized by name but is allegedly in his early 30s, was suspected of assaulting a mosque in the Palestinian village of Orif together with “a large number [of] rioters,” based on an accusation quoted by a news agency.

The goal of the vandals was “to arouse fear or shock in the community through a grave blow to the sacrosanct,” the charging document said, noting that the rioters destroyed furniture, smashed windows and desecrated copies of the Koran inside the mosque.

Based on the news agency, the other defendant was depicted as a 22-year-old off-duty fighter in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), who supposedly took part in a “mob break-in” at a house in Umm Safa village close to Ramallah.
