Indian Writer Basheer Remembered
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Indian socio-cultural organisation Pravasi Doha, commemorated the death anniversary of the legendary writer Vaikom Mohammed Basheer, popularly known as Beypore Sultan, by hosting its annual“Basheer Memorial Speech” at the Indian Cultural Centre.
K Madhavikkutty, a Doha-based literary figure spoke about the life and literary contributions of the revered writer. With her profound insights and eloquence, she breathed life into Basheer's writings, sharing anecdotes and excerpts from his most celebrated works.
“Today, Vaikom Muhammed Basheer is remembered as one of the most extraordinary and influential figures in Indian literature. His legacy lives on, inspiring generations of writers and readers alike with his timeless stories and unwavering commitment to social justice”, said Madhavikkutty.
The event earlier commenced with former chairman C V Rappai introducing the past and current activities of Pravasi Doha. K M Varghese welcomed the gathering and Mohamed Iqbal proposed a vote of thanks.
