Egypt plans to shift from dollar in exchange with BRICS


(MENAFN) Egypt is scheduling to move away from the United States dollar in two-sided exchange with numerous member states of the BRICS economic bloc, Egyptian supply Minister Ali Moselhy stated on Monday, as cited by a news agency.

In line with Moselhy, Egypt is looking to utilize domestic moneys to compensate for its shipments from India, China, as well as Russia, main members of the BRICS group, which also consist of Brazil and South Africa.

“Nothing of the sort has been implemented but there are discussions so that we can trade in local currencies of countries like India, Russia or China,” Moselhy informed the outlet.

The BRICS group contribute in 40 percent of the globe`s inhabitants and nearly 33 percent of the international economy. The bloc members have lately outpaced the G7 in conditions of financial development.
