Aqaba, May 29 (Petra) -- The security forces late Sunday found the body of a young man in his thirties who was swept away by flash floods while driving his vehicle in the Shammia area of Aqaba, which has been experiencing heavy rainfall.

Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Khaled Al-Hajaj, the Governor of Aqaba, revealed that a search team had been assembled overnight to locate the young man who had been swept away by the floods in the northern part of Aqaba. Unfortunately, the team found the young man's lifeless body in the early hours of Monday morning.
Al-Hajaj emphasized that the intense rain and subsequent floods forced the temporary closure of several roads in the Al-Qweira and Wadi Al-Yatam areas. However, these routes were reopened after a few hours, allowing traffic to resume. He reassured the public that all roads in the governorate were currently open and no closures were in effect.
In light of these events, the Governor urged citizens and motorists to exercise extreme caution while using the roads, advising them to steer clear of low-lying areas and riverbanks. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of staying informed about weather updates and following the guidance provided by the Meteorological Department to ensure personal safety.
