(MENAFN) Türkiye's Borsa Istanbul, the country's benchmark stock index, concluded the trading day on Tuesday with a slight increase of 0.11 percent to reach a closing value of 4,470.97 points. The BIST 100 index began the day at 4,467.34 points and gained 4.78 points compared to the previous close.
Throughout the day, the index experienced fluctuations, hitting a low of 4,436.49 points and reaching a high of 4,499.32 points. By the end of the trading session, the total market value of the BIST 100 stood at approximately 3.7 trillion Turkish liras (USD187.1 billion), with a daily trading volume of 39.78 billion Turkish liras (USD2 billion).
Among the stocks listed on the index, 47 saw an increase in their values, while 50 recorded a decline compared to the previous day's closing prices.
In terms of other market indicators, the price of an ounce of gold stood at USD1,961.45, while Brent crude oil was trading at around USD77.30 per barrel as of 6:40 p.m. local time (1540GMT).
Regarding currency exchange rates, the US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was reported as 19.8550, the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 21.4480, and the British pound was valued at 24.6709 Turkish liras.
