Hungary grows Huawei relations, refuses pressure on China companies
(MENAFN) Hungary is growing its ties with Huawei Technologies in addition to car Chinese battery makers, declining international pressure to decline financial relations with China, mainly in the telecommunications industry.
Huawei is going to sponsor a scholarship plan at Hungary’s Public Service University in Budapest, which trains students for a job in the administration of the nation, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto stated in Beijing on Monday. The concentration is going to be on 5G research and innovation, he stated.
"We maintain our position on global telecommunications providers, namely that we don’t exclude companies from competition based on their country of origin,” Szijjarto stated in a Facebook post following a gathering with Huawei representatives.
Premier Viktor Orban’s government has refused to go with the US and EU pressure many times to reduce telecommunications relations because of worries that Chinese security facilities could monitor the flow of data, an allegation rejected by firms like Huawei several times.
"We want to constantly develop European Union and Chinese cooperation,” Szijjarto stated. "That obviously can’t happen if the EU puts Chinese companies on a list for sanctions or export controls.”
