Qatar, Spain Launch Innovation Programme to Fund Startups, Entrepreneurs

(MENAFN) The Ambassador of Spain to Qatar, H.E. Javier Carbajosa Sanchez, has expressed his support for the idea of providing funding for startups and aspiring entrepreneurs, stating that it is a great way to develop innovation and technology. In an interview with The Peninsula, he highlighted the importance of enabling startups and entrepreneurs to create the latest innovations and technologies.

To promote Spanish and Qatari firms in both countries and support research and development (R&D) projects, the Qatar Spain Innovation Programme (QASIP) was recently launched at an event held at the Park Hyatt Doha. This is the first time that Qatar and Spain have launched an initiative of this nature together, and the first time that Qatar has launched an innovative initiative of this nature.

QASIP is being initiated by the Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation (QRDI) Council and the Spanish Center for the Development of Technology and Innovation (CDTI). The programme will award finalists with numerous funding opportunities in both countries. According to Ambassador Sanchez, "CDTI and QRDI have been working for some time. So we have two funding agencies that will fund for research and economics."

The application portal for QASIP is open to eligible entities and individuals from Qatar and Spain. The programme is expected to open doors for partnerships between companies from both regions, resulting in a beneficial resolution. Ambassador Sanchez believes that Qatar has understood the importance of adding a new layer of vision and technology to its initiatives, and that QASIP is the beginning of a main year in this regard. He also highlighted that Spain shares the same view.

The launch of QASIP is a positive step towards supporting innovation and technology in both Spain and Qatar. By providing funding opportunities for startups and entrepreneurs, the programme aims to encourage the development of the latest innovations and technologies, which could have a significant impact on the economies of both countries.
