Amman, Apr. 15 (Petra) -- The Ministry of Industry and Trade is referring three malls to judicial authorities after its market monitoring cadres discovered that they have been refusing the sale of chicken to citizens despite having it in stock, according to sources.
The sources in the ministry said that the number of violations has reached 571 since the beginning of Ramadan, including 106 violations for non-compliance with price ceilings and two for refraining from selling basic materials.
The ministry had announced Friday that its market monitoring cadres have picked up a "clear shortage of fresh chicken and chicken sold through farmgates" in the local markets, leading the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Youssef Shamali to instruct the cadres to increase inspection campaigns, stressing that if the shortage continues the price ceiling for fresh chicken sold to restaurants and hotels will be fixed at 1.90 Jordanian dinars.
