(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))  ISLAMABAD, April 11 (KUNA) -- At least three "terrorists" were killed during a security operation in Pakistan's northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province bordering Afghanistan on Tuesday, said military.
According to a press release by Pakistan military's media wing, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), three were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) on the reports of the presence of terrorists in Nurur area of Bannu district in KPK. The ISPR further said that during the conduct of the operation, fierce fire exchange took place between own troops and terrorists.
Resultantly, all three terrorists were killed who were "actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent citizens," the release confirmed. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from their possession. "Locals of the area appreciated the operation and expressed their full support to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the area," the ISPR added.
Earlier in the day, at least four policemen and a militant were killed in a gun battle during a security operation in Quetta city of Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province. The military has paced up security operations after a meeting of National Security Committee (NSC), chaired by Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif and attended by top military and political leadership, on Friday agreed to launch an "all-out comprehensive operation" to rid the country of the menace of terrorism.
